The Hon. Minister for the Interior, Ambrose Dery, hosted the Turkish Ambassador to Ghana Her Excellency, Özlem Ergün Ulueren at his office in Accra to discuss ways of enhancing bilateral cooperation between Turkey and Ghana.
Hon. Ambrose Dery thanked the Turkish Government and Turkish non-governmental organisations for the construction of the National Mosque which is the second largest in West Africa and other projects in Ghana.
He noted that there is peaceful coexistence between Muslims and Christians in Ghana and described it as well worthy of emulation. He, therefore, assured the Ambassador of Government’s commitment to peace and security in the country.
The Hon. Minister added that peace and security are top on the Government’s agenda since without it business cannot strive. He called for investments in the country and said the doors of the Ministry of the Interior are opened for collaboration in the area of security and other areas that will benefit the two countries.
He expressed his gratitude for the visit and said the good cooperation between the two countries must be encouraged to foster trade and business for the good people of Ghana and Turkey.
Her Excellency, Özlem Ergün Ulueren, thanked the Minister for the reception and said Turkey is ready to work with the Ministry of the Interior based on its specific needs. She said organized crime and illegal migration are issues confronting countries across the world and therefore called for collaboration in the area of terrorism, money laundering, migration and training.
