The Hon. Deputy Minister for the Interior, Hon. Naana Eyiah, has urged the Ghana Immigration Service to maintain border security for peace and security as the nation prepares for the 2024 general elections.
She noted that the increasing security threats faced in Africa and the West Africa sub-region called for recruitment and training of additional personnel to man the country’s borders to ensure peace and security because without it there cannot be development.
Hon. Naana Eyiah was speaking at the passing out ceremony of recruits’ Intake 29 at the Ghana
Immigration Service Training School at Assin Fosu in the Central Region.
The Hon. Deputy Minister assured that Government will not relax its effort to ensure that the Ghana Immigration Service has the required personnel to deliver on its mandate.
She added that Government would continue to provide the Ghana Immigration Service with the necessary resources to enable the officers to perform effectively wherever they are called to duty.
She urged the officers to serve as worthy ambassadors, exhibit high professional standards and show dedication by placing the interest of the Ghana Immigration Service and the country above everything else.
The Deputy Minister tasked the officers to exhibit the skills and knowledge acquired through their training and be disciplined in the performance of their respective duties.
She advised them to be vigilant and observe a high level of security awareness and knowledge in dealing with foreigners in their line of duty.
She commended the recruits for their determination and commitment exhibited during their training period. She also commended the Commanding Officer, physical training and drill
Instructors, administrative staff, and the catering team for their time and tireless efforts in training and accommodating the recruits.
