The Acting Director-General of the Ghana Prisons Service (PS), Mr. Isaac Kofi Egyir, has been sworn in and confirmed as the new Director-General of the Ghana Prisons Service at a short ceremony at the Ministry of the Interior in Accra.
Mr. Egyir was acting as the Director-General of PS since August, 2021 following the retirement of Mr. Patrick Darko Missah. The Interior Minister, Hon. Ambrose Dery, who sworn in Mr. Isaac Egyir, said PS plays a critical role in the affairs of security in the country and that the confirmation of Mr. Egyir affirms the importance Government attaches to security in Ghana.
He said His Excellency President Akufo-Addo has shown commitment to ensuring the safety of the people of Ghana by retooling the security services for effective delivery of their mandates.
According to the Minister, the ongoing recruitment into the security services will go a long way to boost the members and presence of the various security services in the country for the safety of the citizens.
Hon. Ambrose Dery congratulated Mr. Egyir on his appointment and urged him to execute his work well to ensure the safety of the people.
In his acceptance remarks, the new Director-General of PS expressed his profound gratitude to H.E. President Akufo-Addo for the honour and the promotion to the highest office of the PS. He also thanked the Minister for the Interior and other security services for their support.
Mr. Egyir assured H.E. the President and the good people of Ghana that he will work hard to justify the confidence reposed in him.
