Ghanaians today, bid farewell to the outgoing Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. James Oppong-Boanuh at a colourful farewell parade and pull-out ceremony at the National Police Training School, Tesano in Accra.
In attendance were, Hon. Ambrose Dery, Minister for the Interior, Ministers of State, Security Services Commanders and other officials.
Delivering his remarks, Mr. Oppong-Boanuh thanked God, His Excellency President Akufo-Addo, the Vice President, His Excellency Dr Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia, his family, Security Services and Ghanaians for the opportunity and support given him during his tenure as IGP.
He commended his Officers for their immense support and role in ensuring peace and security in the country, saying even though it was not easy, by the grace of God, he was able to do his best in his 33 years of service to the nation.
The out-going IGP noted that the work of the security services cannot be overemphasized and that with the right policies and support, more can be done to ensure peace in the country.
The new acting IGP, Dr George Akuffo-Dampare, will officially assume office on August 1, 2021. He was appointed by His Excellency, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on July 21, 2021.
