The Chief Director for the Ministry of the Interior, Mrs. Adelaide Anno-Kumi, on Wednesday, October 8, 2020, received the “Nathan Quao Leadership Award, 2020”, which was organized by the Civil and Local Government Service Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) in Accra.

She was amongst several other CLOGSAG members who were honoured at the 3rd Annual Nathan Quao Awards, 2020 for exhibiting key values and principles of the Services in Leadership, Integrity, Professionalism, Loyalty and Selflessness.

Portions of the citation which was presented to her read;

“…You have made a remarkable impact on the leadership ethos and have exceptionally exhibited the utmost attribute of commitment, dedication and self-discipline in various capacities across the Ministries at all times. While serving on several Boards, Committees, delegations and Teams, you injected rich expertise and experience into policy formulation and implementation strategies.

One important legacy that have etched in the Ghana Civil Service is how you have defined effective leadership through your outstanding work across the Ministries.

Your proactiveness, principles, industrious nature and team building skills won you the most influential Civil Servant award in August, 2016. These attributes of professionalism and dedicated services have earned you optimum respect from your superiors and colleagues…”

The Award scheme is part of the ‘Political Neutrality Project’ established and launched by the Civil and Local Government Service Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) to sensitise their members, politicians and the general public on the Supreme Court ruling which prohibits the involvement of civil servants in active partisan politics and its implications on governance.

It is also to inspire their members to give off unblemished services bereft of any political colorization and nepotism.

Speaking at the event, themed “Neutrality in the Civil and Local Government Services; A Reality or a Mirage”, Nana Agyekum Dwamena, the Head of Civil Service said Civil Servants must develop the courage to speak through to leaders in power, as the late Nathan Quao was noted for.

He said the Public Service was underpinned by various legal framework and regulations to guide in institutional standards and administrative process and procedures as well as code of conduct and admonished the members to adhere to them and ensure that interest of the State was paramount.

Dr. Alex Glover Quartey received the ultimate award ie the Nathan Quao Award for Excellence in Leadership, 2020.
