The Ministry of the Interior has asked all key cutting, rubber stamp and seal operators to register or renew their licenses with the Ministry of the Interior to avoid sanctions.

This, according to the Head of Public Affairs of the Ministry, Alhaji Zakari Musah, officials of the Ministry and the Ghana Police Service have started a nationwide monitoring and sensitization of Private Security Organizations, Locksmiths (Key Cutting) and Rubber Stamp and Seals Operators to streamline their operations and comply with the law.

Alhaji Zakari, who was sensitizing the operators during the monitoring exercise in Accra noted that Locksmiths (Licensing) Act, 1994 Act 488 states that a person shall not engage in the business of making locks, repairing locks or cutting keys unless that person is granted a license by the Minister and therefore it is an offence to operate without registering of licensing with the Ministry of the Interior..

He said the exercise, which started in 2023 will continue till the end of 2024. He, therefore, asked all players within the sector to abide by the guidelines governing their operations and comply with the directive to avoid sanctions.
